IT Network Desktop Technician
The IT Network Desktop Technician is responsible for diagnosing customer issues and communicating possible solutions to the customers, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of BTC’s computer systems and networks. They install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software, ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and providing support to BTC staff. They also address network-related issues, such as connectivity problems, and help implement cybersecurity protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware and Software Support
Install and troubleshoot desktop computers, peripheral devices, and other equipment related to the business office network. - Customer Support
Diagnose customer issues related to their BTC services and effectively communicate solutions to staff and customers. - Network Systems
Learn each customer facing system including, but not limited to Calix, Metaswitch, Innovative Systems, NRTC e-mail platform, and Mapcom. - Documentation
Maintain accurate records of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions of common issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills
Strong understanding of computer hardware and software, networking protocols (TCP/IP), and security practices. - Troubleshooting Skills
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve IT problems effectively and efficiently. - Communication Skills
Ability to effectively communicate technical information to users, both verbally and in writing. - Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve IT problems efficiently and effectively. - Customer Service Skills
Ability to provide courteous and helpful support to users, ensuring their satisfaction. - Education
Typically requires an associate’s degree or equivalent training in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
