News from the Manager
Throughout the summer, our BTC team has been busy doing what we love most — serving our members and being part of the communities we call home. From our Customer Appreciation Days to supporting our local schools and organizations, it has been a wonderful summer of connection, service, and giving back.
This year has been especially meaningful as we celebrate BTC’s 75th anniversary. For 75 years, our cooperative has grown and changed alongside the hometowns we serve, but the heart of who we are has remained the same. BTC was built by local people who believed our rural area deserved access to the same opportunities as anywhere else. Seventy-five years later, we are still carrying out that mission. And I believe being local matters now more than ever.
We realize there are many choices for telecommunications services today. But at BTC, we offer something that simply cannot be duplicated by other companies. Our members are not just account numbers — they are our neighbors, local businesses, and community organizations. Our decisions are made here, and the money our members spend with BTC stays here locally, supporting local jobs, schools, and organizations while helping us continue investing in the network that serves us all.
One way BTC is making a difference is through our free educational classes. Technology changes quickly, and we believe our responsibility goes beyond simply providing an internet connection. We want to help our members understand and confidently use the technology available to them. This year, we have offered several classes on topics such as internet safety and streaming, giving our members a comfortable place to learn, ask questions, and receive help from people they know and trust. We look forward to continuing to expand these educational opportunities, so watch for dates and sign up!
Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for our Cooperative’s 71st Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 31, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Ballard Memorial High School cafeteria, with parking available behind the school, just like last year. We are also planning our annual Christmas Open House for Friday, December 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We hope you can join us for both celebrations, and we look forward to seeing you there!
As we continue celebrating 75 years, I am especially grateful for the generations of members who have supported this cooperative. Choosing BTC means choosing more than just an internet provider. It means supporting a local cooperative that puts our community first by giving back to the place we’re proud to call home. Every day, we work to make our little corner of Kentucky an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

2026 Annual Meeting and Trustee Election
October 31, 2026
Ballard Memorial High School Cafeteria
This is your official notice of the meeting and annual report. The Annual Meeting and Trustee election will be on Saturday, October 31, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Ballard Memorial High School cafeteria. Please use the parking lot behind the school to enter the cafeteria. Registration for the meeting will begin at 8 a.m. and the meeting will be called to order at 10 a.m. for the election of the Wickliffe and LaCenter Trustee positions. The incumbent seeking reelection for the Wickliffe exchange is Guy Johnson and for LaCenter exchange is Kandice Burney.
Every member is entitled to one vote, where two people hold a joint membership, either may vote, but not both. If your name is not on the membership, you will not be able to vote in the Trustee election.

The BTC Education Series is Back on September 24th
The BTC Education Series in September will focus on the BTC Go App. We will walk you through the features of the BTC Go App, including how to set up the app on your phone and connect it to your BTC-provided router.
We will also teach you how to create networks, change your password, manage all the connected devices on your network, and receive notifications about critical events like viruses, infections, or intrusions.
The Education Series will be at the BTC Headquarters in LaCenter, KY. Contact the office to sign up by September 18. You can register by calling 270-665-5186 or emailing btc@btc.coop. We will provide coffee, donuts and a door prize. We hope to see you on Thursday, September 24 starting at 9:30 a.m. and finishing at 10:45 a.m.

Petitions Available for Trustee Election of 2026
If you would like to serve as a Trustee for BTC, petitions are available at the BTC headquarters in LaCenter for the upcoming Board of Trustees election. Completed petitions must be returned by Friday, September 25, 2026.
Trustee elections will be held for the LaCenter and Wickliffe exchanges. To petition for election, you must reside in the exchange where the election is being held (LaCenter and Wickliffe) and have a petition signed by at least fifty (50) members of BTC with active service.
The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The meeting starts at 10 a.m.

Call Before You Dig
Everyone is required by law to contact 811 prior to any digging activity. The homeowner or business owner is responsible for any digging activity, so make sure contractors call 811 or you call on their behalf.
Failure to have underground utility lines located prior to any digging activity could result in the cost of repairs to the damaged utility and penalties may be imposed by an enforcing agency.
Kentucky 811 is a FREE statewide service that provides a link between those digging and member operators like BTC.
The law requires two (2) full working days’ notice, but no more than 10, in advance of digging. A working day is a 24-hour period excluding the day of submission, Saturday, Sunday, or federal/state holidays.

Is It Really Your Bank Calling?
Scams are getting more complex. Scammers may impersonate your financial institutions in an attempt to access your accounts, money, and personal information. How do you know the person you’re communicating with is really a representative of your bank?
HANG up and independently CHECK the source by calling your bank directly using a trusted phone number. If it is a local bank, visit the bank in person if you are able. You can typically find the bank’s number on the back of your debit card or on monthly statements.
