News from the Manager

Summer always brings a special kind of energy to our communities. School is out, families are traveling, and neighbors are gathering for ballgames, vacations, and community events.
It’s a season filled with connection — and at BTC, connection is exactly what we’re all about.
As a cooperative, BTC was built on the idea that local people working together can make a difference. That mission has guided us for generations, and it continues today as we work to provide reliable services while investing back into the communities we proudly serve. But what makes BTC different goes beyond technology. It’s the people. We live here, raise our families here, attend church here, and support the same schools and organizations that our members do. We believe being a cooperative means more than providing a service — it means being present, giving back, and helping strengthen the place we all call home.
One of our favorite parts of summer is the opportunity to spend time with the people we serve. We invite our members and community to join us for our Customer Appreciation events this June.
We will be in McCracken County at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 16th, from 4-6 PM.
On Thursday, June 18th, we will greet customers at the BTC office at 159 W 2nd Street in LaCenter.
These events are a small way for us to say thank you for your continued support and trust in BTC. We look forward to visiting with you, sharing refreshments and a gift, and celebrating the community that makes BTC so special.
In April, BTC hosted its very first on-site educational class, bringing community members together to learn more about technology, internet safety, and ways to better navigate today’s digital world.
We were encouraged by the wonderful response and participation, and we are excited to continue offering these opportunities throughout the year.
Our next educational class will be held on Thursday, June 25 at our BTC office in LaCenter, and we would love you to join us. Call our office at 270-665-5186 to reserve your seat.
For 75 years, BTC has been woven into the fabric of this community, and we are proud to continue carrying that legacy forward. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we are grateful for the generations of members, employees, and community leaders who helped shape BTC into what it is today. Their hard work, vision, and dedication created a foundation that continues to guide us forward.
From all of us at BTC, thank you for allowing us to serve this community for the past 75 years. We are proud of our history, grateful for our members, and excited for the future we are building together.

Older Devices Can Hold Back Your Wi-Fi
Your Internet may be fast – but some devices may be slowing things down.
If your internet feels slow on certain phones, TVs, or laptops, your internet connection probably isn’t the issue. Many older devices simply weren’t built for today’s Wi-Fi technology, which can affect how smoothly they perform.
Older devices were designed for earlier Wi-Fi standards and may:
- Connect more slowly
- Take longer to load videos and apps
- Experience buffering, lag, or dropped connections
What can you do?
- Keep device software up to date
- Upgrade older devices when possible
- Use newer devices for high-demand activities like streaming, work, or gaming
- Use BTCGo to prioritize traffic in your home network
- Contact BTC for help optimizing your in-home Wi-Fi
BTC delivers a network built for how you live today — and where technology is headed next. Keeping your devices up to date helps unlock faster speeds, smoother streaming, and better Wi-Fi in every room.
Please contact our office at 270-665-5186 and we will help you review all your connected devices if you are having issues.

Call Before You Dig
Everyone is required by law to contact 811 prior to any digging activity. The homeowner or business owner is responsible for any digging activity, so make sure contractors call 811 or you call on their behalf.
Failure to have underground utility lines located prior to any digging activity could result in the cost of repairs to the damaged utility, and penalties may be imposed by an enforcing agency.
Kentucky 811 is a FREE statewide service that provides a link between those digging and member operators like BTC.
The law requires two full working days’ notice, but no more than 10, in advance of digging. A working day is a 24-hour period excluding the day of submission, Saturday, Sunday, or Federal/State Holidays.
To contact Kentucky 811 for any digging activity, dial 811 or 1-800-752-6007.
You can electronically contact Kentucky 811 online at:
